Limelight Ring

Description of design

Alexander has designed a fun and adaptable piece with beaming lights. However, instead of light bulbs blasting out light in all directions, the limelight in this piece is generated by diamonds. The six “lights” can be moved independently in all directions, and the centre of the piece has been built around a unique mirrored panel that channels light back up through the diamond lenses of each “light”.

Inspirations behind the piece

The Limelight Ring is directly inspired by the heyday of the red carpet and the excitement of famous actors of stage and screen. It channels the fun of an evening out and the glitz and glamour of a premiere.

About the designer

Alexander designed and made his first fine jewellery collection in 2007, drawing inspiration from his background in science and engineering to produce innovative and seductive pieces of jewellery. His Dendritic Collection is inspired by the branching structure of molecules, whilst the Dark Romance collection uses sweeping architectural forms and decadent colour combinations. Within the last two years Alexander has exhibited his work at various fairs including Goldsmiths Fair, IJL, Coutts London Jewellery Week, Kara in Paris and Inorghenta in Munich. In 2010 he won the UK New Jewellery Designer of the Year. This is also the third year running that he has won this competition.
