'Affirmation’ bracelet
Affirmation is a platinum linked bracelet with 8mm black fresh water pearls and 18ct yellow gold detailing. The design in platinum wraps around the contrasting colour of the pearls presenting a flowing but ordered form that has a strong tactility. The name comes from the structure of the links in the bracelet which look like affirmative ticks.
The Affirmation bracelet development was driven by the desire to incorporate pearls into the platinum structure of a bracelet. The design development successfully bonded the engineering of the pearls with the natural strength of platinum to create a strong and very tactile bracelet. A striking visual appearance and a solid but flexible structure of the bracelet are its’ key attributes.
John, who comes from Wetherby in Yorkshire first entered the world of jewellery by taking a jewellery diploma in Bradford and a degree in Metalwork and Jewellery Design at Sheffield. Two years of working in the jewellery trade followed before he started his own company, Dot the jewellers in 1994. Dot has been trading as a design based jewellery retailer offering purely bespoke commissioned jewellery for eight years now and the focus of the company is to bring the customer into the process of commissioning a piece of jewellery. This is beneficial to everyone working in the company as the design work is always being pushed forward driven by customer's requirements. Dot is one of the first independent jewellery design houses in the UK to do all of the design work through CAD and a large percentage of this work is then CAM. The success of this philosophy helped the company expand into new premises in the world heritage site of Saltaire three years ago and the company is still developing strongly even in a recession.
